I just don’t think you understand.
I never got the opportunity to photograph Alexis Sánchez in a competitive match whilst he was at Arsenal, but here’s a shot I took from the stands at an open preseason training session in 2014.
Sure it got a little frustrating in the end but overall I took great pleasure and happiness in watching him play for us.
Thanks for the memories.
“When I first started playing in 1962, I found that I loved the game so much and thought that I should support a team… so I pick a team starting with A. My name’s Allan. Fortunately, I didn’t pick Aston Villa.
“Arsenal weren’t doing that well at the time, but there’s 71 – the double, and through the 70s – going alright, 80s – sort of died away again, then came good in 89. I remember watching that game, in the bloody cold dark hours of the morning in Brisbane…
“So coming over here watching games, it’s been brilliant.
“Nigel Winterburn (on the Emirates Stadium tour) was very entertaining, very forthcoming with opinions and answers to questions. It’s been an excellent adventure.
“I’m not an emotional person to that extent but it’s just in that sense it’s been brilliant. Something that I’ve wanted to do and here I am doing it, living the dream you could say.”
Will we see you back here again?
“Maybe, not sure. A lot of things happening at home that I’ve got to deal with. But my wife said that I should really go.
“She said, “Go away, leave me alone!” I’ve been talking to her a few times and I said that I actually miss you. We’ve been doing FaceTime with the kids, too.
“I’ve seen sights around London that I’ve never seen before. I made a point of going around seeing everything I should see. I’ve taken like, about 800 photos.”
Thank you, Theo Walcott. 🔴
